Inputs

Scenario builder

Adjust the scenario and the charts update automatically.

Length of each rolling historical window.
Used to translate nominal performance into purchasing-power terms.
Amount invested each month at the beginning of the plan.
Upper contribution level reached over time.

Results

Charts are rendered by the backend from the selected historical window set.

Method and limits

This interface is built to compare scenarios quickly. You choose the index, capital, contribution path, horizon, and inflation rate; the backend returns one chart and summary metrics computed across all valid rolling periods in the available dataset.

Historical windowsInflation adjustedEducational use

Comparable scenarios

Every run uses the same structure: starting capital, recurring contribution range, horizon, and inflation adjustment.

Readable outputs

Charts stay central, while the supporting metrics surface downside frequency and average real outperformance.

Transparent inputs

The controls mirror the API parameters directly so the frontend stays close to the underlying model.

What the simulator does

  • Builds rolling windows across the available monthly history for the selected ETF or index proxy.
  • Applies an initial investment together with contributions that step upward over time from the starting amount toward the maximum amount.
  • Adjusts both invested and non-invested paths for inflation before calculating the comparison metrics.

What to look at

  • Periods ending below the non-invested baseline: the share of rolling windows where the invested path finished behind the comparison path.
  • Average real outperformance: the average percentage advantage of the invested path after inflation adjustments.
  • The chart itself: a visual scan of how wide or narrow the outcome spread becomes across different starting dates.

Limits

  • Results depend on the history available for the selected ticker.
  • A long horizon can exceed the available dataset for some instruments.
  • The simulator is descriptive, not predictive, and should not be treated as personal financial advice.
